The Epidemiological Research Unit from the Institute of Public Health, University of Porto (EPIUnit- ISPUP) is offering 4 PhD studentships on Public Health, funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Research activities will conduct to the development of the PhD thesis in the Doctoral Program in Public Health, University of Porto and framed within the EPIUnit-ISPUP thematic research lines. Candidates need to express in a “Letter of motivation” the specific area of interest to develop the research activities choosing one of the research thematic lines, among those available at the Research Unit (EPIUNIT-ISPUP), namely those that are expressed in the following specific proposals:

1. Intrauterine exposure to hyperglycaemia – the impact on offspring health outcomes

2. Cohort effects on obesity and metabolically healthy status: evidence from two cohorts born 15 years apart

3. Early life programming of appetitive behaviours: a study in twins

4. Dietary exposures (from macronutrients to food contaminants) and their effects on cardio metabolic health from childhood to adolescence

5. Social isolation and health among older people

6. Ageing and Place: How does neighbourhood environment shape ageing trajectories?

7. DATAGov – Public and patient involvement in health data governance: a people-centred approach to data protection in genetic diseases

8. HIneC “When do health inequalities start? Understanding the impact of childhood social adversity on health trajectories from birth to early adolescence

9. Ensuring sexual and reproductive rights as a tool for preventing and coping with sexual violence against women

10. Quality of life of carers of stroke survivors across the care trajectory: a longitudinal mixed-methods approach

11. Fertility preservation: knowledge, attitudes and practices

12. Biomonitoring Firefighter Occupational Exposure

13. Contextual influences on the pediatric pain experience: a birth cohort study

14. A longitudinal assessment of cognitive function among general population adults from the Healthcare Centres of Matosinhos

15. Impact of multiple non-pharmacologic interventions to prevent cognitive decline – the MIND-Matosinhos trial

16. Cooking healthy enjoyable food (CHEF) – an integrated program to improve breast cancer survivors’ well-being
