Project: When do health inequalities start? Understanding the impact of childhood social adversity on health trajectories from birth to early adolescence” (PTDC/SAU-PUB/29567/2017- POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029567)

 

 

Description: A scholarship is available within the framework of the project “When do health inequalities start? Understanding the impact of childhood social adversity on health trajectories from birth to early adolescence” (PTDC/SAU-PUB/29567/2017- POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029567)” funded by FEDER through the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Internationalization and national funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology – FCT (Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education).

 

 

Scientific area: Health Sciences

 

 

Admission requirements:

 

 

Mandatory:

Applicants must have a Bachelor degree in Nursing and a Master degree in Public Health with specialization in Epidemiology; and also experience in health studies and population-based cohort studies.

 

Desirable:

Familiarity with social determinants of health and/or impact of stressful events for health; experience and training in statistical analyses and scientific writing. Fluency in English documented by corresponding diploma or scientific papers as the first author.

 

 

Activity outline: 

The successful applicant will be part of the research team. He/she will be responsible for data collection and organization, management of databases, statistical analyses and writing scientific reports.

Work place and Supervision: Instituto de Saúde Pública da Universidade do Porto (ISPUP), Porto, Portugal, supervised by Doutora Sílvia Fraga.

 

 

Duration: The duration of the position is 12,5 months, if does not exceed the end date of the project.

 

 

Value of monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the grant corresponds to

€ 989,70 (free of taxes), according to the table of grants values ​​of FCT in the country (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

 

 

Selection methods: There will be a selection based on ranking by curriculum evaluation of all the eligible candidates. If necessary, the candidates will be invited for an interview (for a maximum of 3 candidates).
