Opening Notice of the Call to Award PhD Studentships

 

4 PhD studentships on Public Health - Epidemiological Research Unit (EPIUnit)

 

 

The Epidemiological Research Unit from the Institute of Public Health, University of Porto (EPIUnit- ISPUP) is offering 4 PhD studentships on Public Health, funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Applications and supporting documents must be submitted by email to “candidaturas@ispup.up.pt” with the reference “EPIUnit_studentships” in the subject line.

Research activities will conduct to the development of the PhD thesis in the Doctoral Program in Public Health, University of Porto and framed within the EPIUnit-ISPUP thematic research lines. Candidates need to express in a “Letter of motivation” the specific area of interest to develop the research activities choosing one of the research thematic lines, among those available at the Research Unit (EPIUNIT-ISPUP), namely those that are expressed in the following specific proposals:

 

  1. Intrauterine exposure to hyperglycaemia – the impact on offspring health outcomes

 

  1. Cohort effects on obesity and metabolically healthy status: evidence from two cohorts born 15 years apart

 

  1. Early life programming of appetitive behaviours: a study in twins

 

  1. Dietary exposures (from macronutrients to food contaminants) and their effects on cardio metabolic health from childhood to adolescence

 

  1. Social isolation and health among older people

 

  1. Ageing and Place: How does neighbourhood environment shape ageing trajectories?

 

  1. DATAGov – Public and patient involvement in health data governance: a people-centred approach to data protection in genetic diseases

 

  1. HIneC “When do health inequalities start? Understanding the impact of childhood social adversity on health trajectories from birth to early adolescence

 

  1. Ensuring sexual and reproductive rights as a tool for preventing and coping with sexual violence against women

 

  1. Quality of life of carers of stroke survivors across the care trajectory: a longitudinal mixed-methods approach

 

  1. Fertility preservation: knowledge, attitudes and practices

 

  1. Biomonitoring Firefighter Occupational Exposure

 

  1. Contextual influences on the pediatric pain experience: a birth cohort study

 

  1. A longitudinal assessment of cognitive function among general population adults from the Healthcare Centres of Matosinhos

 

  1. Impact of multiple non-pharmacologic interventions to prevent cognitive decline – the MIND-Matosinhos trial

2 PhD studentships on Global Public Health – Epidemiological Research Unit (EPIUnit)

 

 

The Epidemiological Research Unit from the Institute of Public Health, University of Porto (EPIUnit- ISPUP) is offering 2 PhD studentships on Global Public Health, funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Applications and supporting documents must be submitted by email to “candidaturas@ispup.up.pt” with the reference “EPIUnit_studentships” in the subject line.

 

Research activities will conduct to the development of the PhD thesis in the Doctoral Program in Global Public Health (a joint programme of the University of Porto and the NOVA University of Lisbon) and framed within the EPIUnit-ISPUP thematic research lines. Candidates need to express in a “Letter of motivation” the specific area of interest to develop the research activities choosing one of the research thematic lines, among those available at the Research Unit (EPIUNIT-ISPUP) with relevance in Global Health.

Change of date of publication list of selected candidates

According to the call rules, the final list of the selected candidates, as well as the candidates on the reserve list, should be published on the ”la Caixa” Foundation website on the 2nd of June.

 

Due to the current situation derived from the covid-19 pandemic, it will not be possible to meet this date. The publication of the list of selected candidates on the “la Caixa” Foundation website is postponed until the 8th of June. As such, the matching process will start on the 8th of June.
